It sits in the middle of south Las Vegas Boulevard (The Strip).

The city has just completed construction of a small parking lot in the middle of the street so people wanting to take a picture of the sign don't risk their lives darting across the traffic lanes to get to it.

The lot has 12 parking spots on one side, and a large parking lane for buses and limousines on the other side. It has a separate entrance and exit off the southbound lane.
The sign was designed in 1959 by Betty Willis, and she didn't receive any special compensation for it even though it has been reproduced zillions of times over the years.
