More Knitting in Public

Typical of me, I totally missed out on the world-wide yarn in public that our nittineedles told us she participated in Port Alberni's Knit in Public Week

I previously posted the picture of a crocheted thing for railings in a Las Vegas park:

and then I took a rare look at my facebook account, and my cousin in Gettysburg, PA posted pictures of a similar project she was involved in.

Wish I had your talent. It is a good constructive hobby.

Last year I made a bunch of hats and mittens to give to charity. The year before, it was scarves. I haven't been in the mood to knit lately, but will get back with it soon.

A group of knitters does this once a week on a small tree in front of the Phat Cakes shop where they meet.

Knitting is such a sociable hobby, plenty of time to chat. For years, all the only knitting I did was cotton dish cloths, and the first 20 or so were a sad sight. I never thought I'd move as far as sweaters, and now I'm saying I don't think I'll ever move as far as socks, but one should never say never.

Love that Gettysburg pole. I love knitted wear and one time only (with advice from a friend) knitted myself a sweater. It came out well although I held the pieces unattached for more than a year because I was afraid that they wouldn't match but finally I did it and it was okay. It's something I would do if I ever think of it but would have to get help again.

I think we all have a sweater in us, just as we all have a quilt in us; it's simply a matter of being motivated. And once we crank out the one, we are either satisfied that we accomplished that goal and never do another, or are so excited about it we keep making more. In my case, I'm never completely satisfied with the outcome, so keep trying to do better.

Never too late to learn, but no pressure.
