Just in Time

The ice has melted off the river, but the bushes and grass haven't really greened up yet. I was thinking it was too early for hummingbirds, but this morning I looked out the window and a hummer was sitting on the feeder stand peering in the window. So I quick hurried up and made some juice for them and got it out there.

The hummingbirds migrate south for the winter and there aren't any flowers in bloom for them, so I think it's important to welcome them with a full feeder so they are glad they are here, and I got here just in time.

Guess I'll have to put mine out. And you're right--no red food coloring.

Most of ours are fairly plain little things, tho' some have an iridescent green breast.

Our hummingbirds just showed up about a week ago. By happenstance, I'd put out the feeder three days prior to their arrival. They are such noisy, aggressive, territorial little things.

I have a red Hibiscus in bloom and they are feeding off it a lot. We need to get a feeder for them.

I love the little feathery birds. I keep feeders in my Magnolia tree, and if I am late in feeding, they come to the front window to remind me of their presence.
