Just a Hello

Yesterday I went to four meetings starting at 8:30 in the morning and got home at 9 p.m. They were all worth going to - all related to flood recovery.

The snow has almost all melted and tomorrow I'm going to move some more dirt around. The electrician is coming Friday to work on the Brown Palace, and I hope we can get it ready to rent by Memorial Day, but that might be pushing it.

The river is looking very good - spring runoff hasn't started - and the fish appear to be happy.

Did you have sand before the flood, just not as much or in a different place?

Before the flood we had to buy sand to put in the fire pit, and now we have a beach's worth of it all over the place, several feet deep in many spots. Tons of topsoil is gone forever. Some of the sand is mixed with rocks up to 5 inches or so and hard to shovel, and some of it is fairly pure. I want to find a spot to stockpile it for future use.

I didn't see any smiley fish faces in this lovely photo, but will take your word for it. Good luck with the renov on the Br Palace.

One of the fishing guides was here yesterday marveling at some of the new deep pools and pointing out where the fish should be lurking. It's nice to hear the flood didn't create a whole bunch of new problems.

Happy fish. The world is in order!

There is a fly shop in Estes Park that stocks the river above us about a mile - not big fish, just more of them, so their clients will have more luck. Some of those fish washed down here. We can tell the stockers because their coloring isn't as good.

I know you will get it ready by Memorial Day. You have Gary to help now.

We just spent an hour shoveling sand, much more to go. I have moments when I think we'll get it ready in time, and other moments, I just don't don't know.

Busy lady... Glad the fish are happy and best of luck with getting things ready for Memorial Day!

I hate to disappoint these Memorial Day people, but we don't get busy with rentals until July, so we'll surely have it ready by then.
