Good News: Fox

Yes, there is a new fox. And he's relatively tame. I got up early this morning, and put out cornbread for the birds, but next thing I knew, there was a fox.

This isn't the old fox, but maybe he's related because he had a lot of the same behaviors: buried dog biscuits around the yard and came back for more, ran off with pieces of cornbread, sat and waited for what would come next.

The pictures aren't very clear because it was low light, and he doesn't pose like the old fox, but you get the idea.

Eloise was used to the old fox, but this morning she thought it was her job to go outside and run this one off.

I have always firmly believed that animals communicate in ways that we
do not understand. Somehow this fox knows he is safe with you.

They usually have babies in March, so this fox might have his family nearby.

Thanks for being the animal supplier here. https://youtu.be/c6GMen79hd0 - SMothers Brothers with one of my favorite songs, The Foxes.

Those Smothers Brothers! So silly, and a great escape from the worries of the day.

His Dad probably told him you were an easy touch!!!

I was so hoping that would happen, and maybe that's how it worked. Even if I don't see this fox very often, now I know he's out there, and it closes the circle after the disappearance of my dear friend.

Your old fox friend sent his kid over to make your acquaintance. It's sad to think he did not survive. Maybe you can con this one into coming close, with time and your wonderful treats. He (she?) looks beautiful.

It will be interesting to eventually learn if this one is a male or female. I think that wild one that takes off when she sees me is a female, and maybe it's the males that are more trusting.

I don't know if he'll be back, but it was so nice to see him.

A new fox! How cool is that. I'm sure he'll pose pretty once he gets to know you. Better tell Eloise he's not a giant, red mouse.

Eloise is a little cat, but she thinks she's the size of a bear.
