This morning it was baking hot in the sun. If we had humidity, it'd have been unbearable. But then it clouded over, and even though it didn't rain, it was relief from the heat and carried us through the hottest part of the day.
Over at our new cabin project a Cordilleran Flycatcher has a nest on top of one of the porch posts. They used to be called Western Flycatcher, but someone decided there needs to be two species: Pacific Slope Flycatcher and the Cordilleran. I suppose it was important to do that, but wish they'd picked a name I would know how to pronounce.
It's such a perky little bird, more fun than a sparrow, but about the same size.
When we go over there, the mother bird is around, and the other day I thought I saw the head of one of the babies, but today we couldn't see what was going on in the nest.
The hummingbirds are crowding around our feeders and we are starting to go through sugar at a rapid pace, might have to make a special trip to town for a resupply later this week.
