Finding it for the Riddler

Back in 2008, I posted about my cousin who calls me on my birthday every year. That year, she entertained me with riddles and I called my post The Riddler. I'm not much of a one for riddles.

This morning she called, and woke me up. Joanne has cerebral palsy so she doesn't talk very clearly, but most of the time I can understand her. "Do you live near Colorado Springs?" she asked me. "I have a friend there, and I need a zip code for her."

Thinking the friend probably has an unlisted phone number, because so many old folks these days use cell phones when they move to assisted living, I didn't have much hope for finding a phone number for her. But Joanne spelled the name for me, and then she told me the address was: 1605 Elm Grub Machio Place, Colorado Spring, CO. I couldn't locate a street by that name on Google Maps, and I asked her what kind of a name is Elm Grub for a street, and does the street name really have four words in it? The whole time she kept making a funny noise, like a cat horking up a hair ball.

After we finished talking, I got serious about the search, and finally located it:

1605 Elm Grove Drive
Mackenzie Place Apartments
Colorado Springs, CO 80911

and I even found a phone number for the friend.

I'm sending this info to my cousin via snail mail because I don't want any misunderstandings trying to dictate it over the phone.

I'm so glad she lost that sheet of riddles and didn't get any new ones.

I'm so glad I got this figured out for Joanne because she sounded so discouraged when we ended the conversation: "Well, maybe she'll send me a Christmas card and I'll get her address that way."

You ARE a good cousin and human being--not necessarily the same!!

I'm such a good cousin, someone has even adopted me to be her cousin. She decided she is part of my family and thinks of my home as hers. Fortunately, I don't hear from her very much, so she's not a pest.
