Driving Through Utah

Not far from the Colorado border along I-70, Utah comes up with some beautiful scenery. These are kind of washed out, but you get the idea.

I loved that territory! One night I drove east through central Utah and that tall, sharp hogback ridge in front of me was visible in moonlight and it actually made the hair stand up on my head!

I am always sorry that when I go through there I am in a hurry to get somewhere. I would love to see it in the snow, at sunrise, at sunset, moonrise - the whole thing. Nobody lives around there, so it might be public land.

Great photos -- these are the locations that are used for Westerns, aren't they?

Yes, a lot of filming was done in Monument Valley. There is a place called John Ford Point after the director.

To the left of the wolf's head, I see a frog.

There are many beautiful places in the USA--I was so glad when I was young that I traveled through EVERY State (well for some reason that I don't remember not Montana!!) by car--I wish more people would do that before going to Europe, on cruises, etc.

I think just about every state has its beautiful sights and reason to go there.

I'd pull over and climb a bit. Just because it's there!

There are several scenic pull offs through there. We stopped years ago, but I need to do it again.

That is beautiful!

It's so much better than driving through Wyoming - what a yawn that is in comparison.
