Another Day in the Mountains

Every day I think about telling you all what is going on, and something comes up to distract me. Before I know it, a whole week has passed.

Miss Eloise Kitty has been waging a war on the local rodent population. Every day I'll have to take a dead vole (a little larger than a mouse, gray all over, short tail) away from her before she can eat it, and she'll go catch something else. Yesterday's additions were a chipmunk and two mice or voles; all I saw of them was innards that she left on the back patio.

This morning I hiked up on the mountain with the cell phone so it can get a signal and download the minutes for the month tomorrow. If we miss a month, it causes all kinds of problems.

My garden is coming along well, and tonight I harvested the little bit of broccoli rabe that I planted from seed. Now that I know it's easy to grow and I like it, I'll plant some more when the weather is right.

That's it for now.

Wow! You have to hike up a mountain to download your minutes? Better you than me- but you are likely far healthier than me for that reason!

Cath is the gardener here no vegies though, she loves her rhubarb and that's about it, gasancia's flowering and that about it.
We had a cat called TAGGLES that we raised from a kitten using a bottle, he was the best mouser we ever had

My neighbor, Annie, brings me greens and tomatoes and peppers she grows in pots because they have very small lot. She was a hometown friend of Tammy, my neighbor Gary's wife. Came to visit after Tammy died (tragically after a misdiagnosed cancer) at 49. She never left and now they are married. I love home grown tomatoes.

My surviving cat, Max, catches geckos and gets sick when he eats them. He vomits and won't eat for two days and still doesn't get it. I am surprised Eloise Kitty can eat her catches without getting sick.

I'm so jealous of your garden. Not so much with Eloise's gifts to you.

Ah fresh veggies... Can't be beat!
I hear ya on the distractions from posting. I'm very guilty of that...

I've ripped out all the spinach that was starting to bolt in the heat, and will put in some heat-tolerant lettuce. Our nights are still around 50 degrees, but the days are warming up.
