Credit Card Companies

Have you noticed that credit card companies are getting a little strange?

We always keep our balance paid up, but lately it seems like there is less time from when the statement arrives to get the payment back to them. This especially bothers us because if we are moving between two homes, the mail forwarding isn't always very timely.

To solve this problem, I have started paying my credit card bills online, and that works okay, but I trust them less and less, so now any time I have any kind of a balance I pay it off, not waiting for a statement.

One thing I find troubling about the online information is that it will show a balance as if it is still owed within the next few days when they have just sent me an email that they have posted a payment to our account, and we have a negative balance of $374. After considerable diving around in various screens I finally come to the payments we've made and that negative balance, but if I was less persistent, I might think we still owed them $433 and keep paying it over and over again.

I have had an LL Bean Visa card for more than 15 years, and didn't like it last year when they changed their credit card issuer to Bank of America because I think Bank of America is so pushy or something. Sure enough, after only a year or maybe less, LL Bean is dumping Bank of America. So now Bank of America is automatically 'upgrading' me to their Visa card, which I don't want, and I have to reapply for an LL Bean Visa card, which I think is extra work and aggravation, so I'm going to ignore both of companies and buy my clothes from Lands End. LL Bean had free shipping when I used their card to buy from them, but I didn't find much in their catalogs I wanted so I can live without it.

I am always afraid the things they send me will go astray...like the checks for instance. to credit card companies.

Hate credit cards but kept a few for "emergencies". Well, just had a huge, unexpected emergency and can no longer claim a zero balance on any card. I think I will have the cards paid off before I recover emotionally.

You can ask your credit card company to give you a due date that
works for you. I have Merrill-Lynch Visa and they were happy to
oblige. Their date date was getting earlier and earlier so I
called them.

Good for you. Credit card companies ought never be trusted. They're scavengers.
