Mr. Troutbend was excited because they had large bags of Corn Nuts in various flavors. The last time we were there, all they had was spicy hot flavor. He takes them to bowling league to share.
We went there for Christmas wrap and curling ribbon, got that, and avoided the $.79 large gift bags, although it wouldn't have hurt to get one or two just in case. I try not to buy Christmas stuff on spec.
I also bought a head of cauliflower that Safeway would have charged at least $2.89 for, and a bag of fresh whole green beans, and some nice fresh tomatoes.
They had a large variety of puddings and snacks in cups - indulgent (according to the labels) chocolate puddings, rice pudding, and tapioca pudding, to name a few. I don't buy that kind of stuff, but thought it was nice for the folks who need a treat. They also have fresh bread now, which I'll try to remember for next time I'm buying.
I bought a jar of dehydrated sliced garlic in the spice section, something I keep an eye out for, to use in soups.
It's time to start thinking about Christmas dinner, start figuring out what goes good with a ham that I already have in the freezer.
On the way home we stopped at the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store. Do you have those in your part of the country? It's a thrift store that doesn't have any clothes, but lots of hardware and building stuff. They have lots of 80s and 90s dishwashers that nobody is going to want, and builder-grade light fixtures that people replaced with something they liked better. And cans of rejected paint. I enjoy looking at the color dabs on the lids and picturing the despair of the person who had it mixed up on purpose and then was disappointed when they got it home.
