Shopping the Miracle Mile

The Miracle Mile Shops located in the Planet Hollywood Casino/Hotel complex have an Arabian Nights theme because it was originally the Aladdin Casino/Hotel. Like many shopping malls on the Strip it has the fake sky that changes lighting during the day.

Here are some sights from my recent stroll there.

Birkenstock sandals date back to 1774. Get some before you do your time traveling and people back then won't know you're not one of them.

I thought the pointy shoes for men had gone out of style, but nope, you can still get 'em at the Little Napoleon Shop (or something to that effect). Clothes for short guys and these shoes will make their little feet look bigger.

$80 a pound Swiss chocolate. See that white square sort of mid-picture? One lone truffle on it. I think they should give it to me and put it out of its misery.

People are losing their homes to foreclosure but you need these charms for your dog.

You don't have to go to Hawaii to visit the ABC Store. All your basic souvenir needs can be fulfilled in one spot. I think they even have chocolate covered macadamia nuts fresh from the Islands.

The sales tax in Las Vegas is over 10% so that always puts a damper on the fun of shopping for me.

7% in Indiana. But no income tax in Nevada, right? And oh, those chocolates!

There's no income tax, but the sales tax in Las Vegas is about 10%. It really adds up fast.

Why did you have to mention macadamia nuts? Now I will crave them all day.

One of these days I'm going to step inside one of those ABC stores and pretend I'm in Hawaii, but no jet lag.

Wow!! 10% sales tax! And I thought it was bad in Texas. That would make even that lone chocolate truffle out of my price range.

The locals figure the tourists can shell out for all these various sales and use taxes but once in awhile even the locals get pinched.
