Red Crested Tree Rat Returns

I'm looking at the NPR website this morning.

Recently seen in Colombia was a representative of the red crested tree rat family. They were thought to be extinct, so folks are very excited. They are the size of a guinea pig and have a fuzzy black and white tail. I hope nobody decides to capture them to sell for pets in the USA.

I know what you mean, remember Romeo and Juliet - "a rose by any other name" but he doesn't have a naked tail, so I forgive him.

Not quite as cute as the average guinea pig, but ya never know what some people find desirable. Hope you're right.

Look at his cute tail curled around under his chin! So cute! May they live long and prosper in their Colombia home.
