Flood Stories: Parking Tickets

It turns out one Colorado cop has quite the sense of humor.

The Blackhawk was part of the Army National Guard units called in to help rescue stranded victims of the Colorado flood.

He had to park in the street, and he got ticketed for "facing the wrong way" and "parking in a no parking zone."

We found the image on a Reddit post titled: "Blackhawk pilot must land on a street in Colorado to help in a rescue from the floods; gets this amusing ticket from local police in return."

The Redditor also posted this image of the helicopter parked in the street and this image, as verification.

But don't worry, another commenter claiming police experience pointed out that there "no court date" and no "section codes for violations" — so it had to be a practical joke.

Now that you are safe, I'm sure Eloise is glad she didn't have to ride in a helicopter! __^.,.^__

I couldn't decide if there was room in my yard to land a chopper, and saw pictures of people being hoisted up really high - like a three story house or more, and could not bear the thought, much less seeing a cat carrier wobbling its way up there. As boring as it was to walk out, it was plenty exciting enough. But maybe it'd have been fun, like sky diving at age 80.

The chopper rescues are over, and now we are going into the restoration phase - not as exciting for the news media.

It's not easy keeping your sense of humor under those circumstances--wonder how the pilot reacted the first time he saw the ticket!!

Probably couldn't believe his eyes - seems like if cops were able to get there, no need to fly in via copter. But what do I know?

At the motel Saturday night, one of the guests complained because there was no thermostat in his room, and the motel owner called the city cops. Nobody was arrested. Those people at that motel were dodgy- I think they were scam artists.

I can't decide if I'm sorry I missed the rescue by helicopter. Walking out was not much to brag about, but overall, less stress is a good thing, and no doubt easier on the cat.
