From the small town I grew up in:
"Bomb scare turns out to be geocache
BERTHOUD — Police and a bomb squad were called to Greenlawn Cemetery for three hours Saturday to inspect a suspicious package wrapped in duct tape.
“It looked to be a homemade explosive,†said Berthoud Police officer Scott Bonner. “It turned out to be one of those geocaches with a bunch of necklaces and trinkets.â€
The Northern Colorado Bomb Squad used a robot to attempt to detonate the foot-long package wrapped in black duct tape with a hexagonal end and what looked like a fuse, he said, but it “didn’t do much to it."
Online research eventually confirmed the item was a geocache, a container used in a treasure-hunting game to be discovered through GPS devices. The item had been hanging from a tree before the wind apparently blew it to the ground, he said.
Roads to the cemetery at east Larimer County Road 8 and North County Line Road were closed during the investigation."
