Tomato Sandwich

For almost three weeks I've had fresh tomatoes courtesy of my cuz who picks them and shares with me. But until yesterday I didn't have all the necessary components to make that sublime creation: The summer tomato sandwich.
1) You have the right kind of bread--two slices of the freshest lightbread, like Bunny Bread, or Wonder Bread. (Stale bread, toasted bread or any other kind of bread won't do, sugar!)
2) You have to have a red, vine ripened, just picked tomato.
3) A freshly opened jar of Miracle Whip.
4) Salt and pepper
Peel and slice the tomato and lay the slices on two layers of paper towel. Then lightly schmear the inner surface of the two slices of bread all the way out to the crust with Miracle Whip. Now you have to work quickly. Lay the tomato slices on one slice of bread, salt and pepper them, put on top slice of bread and eat immediately, preferably over a sink cause it's gonna be drippy.
Only this time of year can this taste treat be fully engendered. Oh my goodness, it was so good that I made another!    Susil

Can't wait for my first homegrown tomato to come in. I'm trying to be patient, but it ain't easy.

I am getting tomatoes from my garden already. As far as mayo or
miracle whip, I will take either, but prefer miracle whip.
I'm also getting cukes. I like tomato and cuecumber sandmiches.

There was a mom and pop upick'em outfit up the road. But a
developer bought up the land and will turn it into a strip mall.
Progress.

I now have a tomato plant and little yellow thingies on it that
my neighbor says will be tomatoes. I love tomatoes and eat
them almost every day in a salad. But my favorite childhood
treat was to pick one off the vine (if I was on a farm) and eat
it without bread and you didn't need salt.

This tomato business in the stores is so confusing. This year I planted some onions, next summer I am going to try tomatoes in my planter because home-grown would be ideal.

Sounds divine, though I prefer mayo. Still early for our local tomato harvest, but I can hardly wait! Yummy!
