A local radio station sometimes has teachers or one of their students read something they have composed. A tenth grade girl read a poem about the Titanic and I liked her imagery. I was writing as fast as I could and think I got most of it:
TITANIC
It was the finest ship man could aspire to make
In all the world she had no peer
The Titanic steamed across the cold dark sea
The ship was elegant in her majesty
The Atlantic was calm, the night was clear
Then an assassin crossed her bow
An iceberg slashed her breast
There were none to heed her calls of distress
As the great ship groaned in misery
She listed and the sea rushed in
Some passengers chose to leap
As she quickly slid into the icy deep
And Captain Smith went down with his ship.
