Stingers and Poopers

Yesterday I saw a neighbor with his tractor out working on the far end of his property, so I stopped to ask what he has been working so hard on every day.

He says he's going to make a "hobby farm" with some horses and cows. Yikes! It seems like a tiny area for horses and cows. These animals have to have room to move around and graze. There's nothing sadder looking that a horse tethered up all its life, never being able to walk any furthur than the length of a rope its tied to. I know the neighbor isn't gonna do that, but large animals need room to move around.

This is double Yikes!! factor. The enclosure he's building is directly across the road from my property, and from experience with another neighbor down the road who has two large Belgian draft horses, when they are grazing near my house, horseflies fly over to my place and sting the h*ll out of me. Horses just naturally attract horseflies.

Also, horses and cows leave large poops behind that attract houseflies. Food for the animals is gonna attract mice, the mice attract snakes. I am appalled, but there's no zoning here so people can put what they want on their property. Anyone not raised on a farm has no idea how much trouble and expense large animals can be.

Oh well, I'm a pessimist but maybe it won't be so bad...No I take that back..it will be worse, because if you don't have a sturdy fence, horses and cows will get out and roam--and I'm right across the road. Sigh..
