Yesterday the sun came out and it was gloriously beautiful, after days of horrible rainy freezing weather. I had a leak in the outdoor pipes and my cousin Andy came to make the repair just as the sun came out. I sat in the sun and chatted with him as he worked.
When he came in to wash his hands he saw some huge lemons I had next to the sink. My cousin Ellie had given them to me. A friend of hers from Louisiana had brought them to her and she shared with me. These are lemons on steroids. These gargantuan lemons, I suspect, are a hybrid of white grapefruit and lemons. They have a really thick rind and mild taste. I peeled one and cut it up and sprinkled it with a packet of Splenda--delicious!
I remember seeing this past fall a picture in the paper of a kid bringing a four pound Ponderosa lemon to class for show and tell. Maybe this is what I have, but I don't know. Anyone familiar with this citrus?
Anyway, another sunny day today..Bye for now
