Obituary

Here are excerpts from an obituary published in the local paper, the Greene County Herald: Mabel Eldora Blankinchip...went to be with the Lord on Saturday April 19, 2008, surrounded by her loving and devoted family. She was a very loving and caring person. She spent her life giving and serving others. Eldora was a simple and quiet person. She never put much value in the things of the world.
She is survived by her five children (names listed) and grand-children (names listed). We watched her walk through the gates and though the gates have closed after her, she is with us still.
She lives in our hearts. We cannot see her, but she is a living presence.  She is more than a memory. Nothing can separate us. Not time. Not space. Not even death.
(Susil here, and I'm thinking about what it must be like to be loved that much, to be cherished that much. She was a lucky woman, and her children fortunate to have her.)   Susil

What a beautiful tribute. You and I share an deep appreciation for the poetry of these last tributes. I pasted it into my Word document titled "If I should go before the rest of you" where I store up the good ones like: "He enjoyed hunting, fishing and rock hounding. He collected coins, marbles, artifacts and guns. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke his dry humor was hilarious."

Hope you get to feeling better. I'm sending good, good wishes your way.

I am thinking no one is going to write about me that way because I leave no acknowledged descendants. (It's a long story.) My friends might chip in a compliment or two, if they're still around. What, me worry? Most of the people who loved me are already "up there." That's the saddest part of surviving.
