I stayed up to watch the Golden Globes last night, and since Joan Rivers wasn't around to critique, I'm gonna give my opinion of the fashions on display.
KATE WINSLET: wore a fitted strapless black gown--elegant.
BEYONCE: wore a bias pinned white gown--did her mother make that one? Get another designer.
J LO: wore an unflattering gold fabric gown that barely concealed her tata's and exposed a fat roll around her waist--no no, J Lo!
ANGELINA JOLIE: wore a softly draped gray Greek Goddess gown
that bloused at the waist, and somehow failed to flatter. Her hubby BRAT PITT looked the best I've ever seen him--dressed to the nines in tux, and looking good with beard and hair on his head.
ROBERT DOWNEY JR.: loked scruffy, and had "finger in the lightsocket" spikey haircut that didn't look good.
LAURA DERN: won an award, and went on stage wearing a puzzling dress that looked as if her slip had been pulled down to her ankles under her black dress. Dern it, Laura!
MICKEY ROURKE: Mickey, Mickey! He stumbled on the steps going up to pick up his award, wearing biker un-chic and mybloggers hair that hung over his face. He spoke of having been washed up in Hollywood and having only his dogs for love and company before this break. All the best to you, dude-I think you're cute.
KYRA SEDGEWICK: wore what would have been a lovely strapless red dress--if she'd cut off an incongruos bulky blob of red train trailing behind.
MARISA TOMEI: wore a puzzling gypsy gone wild outfit.
PENELOPE CRUZ: lovely strapless white column gown.
SALMA HAYEK: wore off white gown that looked as if were made of 100 yards of wrapped gauze. The crisscross bodice did showcase her perfect bosom--and they look like they're real, too!
RENEE ZELLWEGER: wore a gown with a sheer black top that displayed her bra--streetwalker attire--but had a nice flowy bottom skirt.
DUSTIN HOFFMAN: black suit, white shirt with black tie. Ho hum.
DREW BARRYMORE: wore a filmy flow-y gown of pale blue with dropped shoulders. She looked lovely. Liked her retro hair too.
TOM CRUISE: Looked great in a wide lapel tux. He knows how to dress to perfection.
PS Noted how small a lot of the male stars are, like Hoffman and Cruise.
Another aside--the women all had that monochrome makeup look, no lip color--very unflattering. I'll be glad when women start wearing lipstick again. susil
Loved the critique.
