Yesterday afternoon I went to the post office in town and saw that the new Dollar General store had opened that morning. It opened several weeks early because there has been so much clamor and need for it--they are still stocking the shelves and Grand Opening won't happen till next month, but they went ahead and opened. It makes me so happy. I went inside and the cashier said they have been very busy. Customers have been drawn to it from all over the woods and swamps and boonies. We needed it so badly.
It is a very big store; it looked so clean and neat, not like it will in a few months, but for now everything sparkled in newness and freshness. There is a freezer section, a refrigeration section, a dairy section. There is no grocery store in town, so seeing products there made me, in a sappy response, want to burst into tears. You may not know what it's like to live 40 and 50 miles round trip from a Dollar General store, where you can find so many things. OMG--a bit of civilization and commerce has come to our little town at last.
