A New Doctor

I have an appointment with a new doctor tommorrow and I'm as nervous as if it were a first date. Three months ago I went to the clinic where I've been seeing nurse practioners for about three years. I go every six months, they draw a blood panel to check blood sugar and kidney function, thyroid etc., I get my routine Rx's rewritten and go home.

But on the last visit to the clinic I requested to see the M.D. Need to see an M.D. now and then, I thought. Wrong.
This guy a "doctor" Griffin was a quack who gave me bad medical directives, and he was rude, inconsiderate and hostile. I left the clinic all upset. That bastard gave a cursory glance of my feet and said (speaking of my right big toenail) "It's got to come off." No reason was given when I asked why. No "why" from him, just a surly announcement it had to come off.
Both big toenails are discolored from probably nail fungus, but they don't give me any problems, don't hurt, nothing.

I say to hin "I'm a diabetic and I'm not gonna have a nail removed for no reason." Then he refused to write a RX for a long standing BP pill, saying I needed to get tested again, (using a doctor he knows, not the doctor I requested--one who has my medical records and has managed it for years.) I say my BP is fine and this pill works great, why rock the boat?

So I'm gonna go tomorrow and see this new one and hope he has some common sense and is not a total as*hole like Griffin was. If I knew how to file a complaint against that quack I would have.

Hi fredo; I just had my first appointment with a new doctor Monday and liked him a lot! He said he had no idea why the quack guy said to have the toenail removed.
I know you have to use your own common sense about things--doctors are not gods.

I certainly think it is bad advice to give a diabetic to have any kind
of surgery that can be avoided. I drive twenty five miles to see the
doctor I have had for 25 years because he has kept me healthy and I like
him as a person.

Hi jeri; I was talking to a woman at Walmart who said she had to have her big toenails removed, and it was a big mistake because it hurt like the devil, she was barely able to walk for several weeks, and when the nails grew back she still had the problem.
If you have a doctor you like and trust stick with him like glue--it's a good thing!

Best of luck. I've been avoiding the doctor for several years now because I've been healthy. When I go, they always order a blood test, and then a repeat, and then decide I'm fine, so it was a big waste of money and time.

This insurance company I have impels me to see a doctor and have Rx's re-written every six months, otherwise I wouldn't go to a doctor even if my guts were hanging out.Yeck!
Ps Congrats on being so healthy!

Get a second opinion, regarding your toe nails, from the new doctor and if he agrees with the quack ask him why.

Hi nittin; I saw a new doctor Monday and he was great and was perplexed as to why the quack insisted on having a toenail removed.
I liked this new doc so well I think I'll blog about him. thanks..
