From a headline in the Greene County Herald: 84 YEAR OLD WOMAN CHARGED AS BOOTLEGGER. Rosetta _____ was arrested and taken into custody on charges of illegal distribution of alcoholic beverages. Officers disacovered and confiscated a sizeable stash of illegal alcoholic beverages, along with $1,600 in cash. Rosetta admited being involved in this activity for several years as a means to supplement her limited income. (Well bless her heart--a woman's gotta do what she's gotta do!)
On Wednesday "Dick Cheney's sock puppet" George Bush tore himself away from China to make his fourteenth and final post- Katrina visit to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. His visit barely merited a blip in the local media. He's still in his own dazed little world; no one expects anything but disaster from him anymore.
Tropical storm Fay has weaved and wobbled back and forth over Florida dumping heavy rains; now there's three scenarios for her path before she mercifully dies out. One is that she will wobble toward New Orleans, another is that she'll weave up toward Meridian, and the third possibility is that heavy rains and strong winds will move up through Hattiesburg.
I'm doing all the laundry and making sure there are batteries in everything--all it takes is a poof of wind and the lights go out here.
