I was talking to someone today who saw the Diane Sawyer interview with Stacy Dugard, who was snatched off the street at age 11 and held captive for 18 years by a monster. The person telling me about this inyerview said it was horrific and some of the things the child went through were so terrible it was hard to listen to. If any of you saw it I'd like your take on it. I meant to watch it but a storm blotted out the Direct TV signal.

Went to gas up the car today. The person ahead of me had a Texas license plate. He gassed up, then his wife and kids got out of the car--the wife opened the trunk and opened a cooler. She got out a loaf of bread, mayo, paper plates and sandwich meat and started making sandwiches. I was astonished that anyone would hold up the line to make sandwiches. I called to man over and asked if he would pull his car over to the side, and he did. Why would you have to ask someone to do something that obvious?

I was talking to a man today who monitors a natural gas repository in a little town near here. This gas repository was done sub rosa, and not many people knew about it. A company quietly came in and used water from our aquifer to wash out a salt dome. They had to bore down 2,500 feet to enter the dome, which is capped by hard clay.
God only knows how much of this pure water was used to flush salt out of the dome, to hollow out storage space for the natural gas. He said the saline effluent was pumped back down the outer shell of the salt dome. None of it went into the Leaf River--so he says.
Then natural gas is pumped into the hollowed out salt dome, and sealed. Gas goes in, and gas is pumped out by gas companies. He says the only way it could be a danger to anyone is if air comes in contact with the gas--then BOOM!
Knowing the tendency for error in human beings and mexchanical equipment, I wouldn't want to live anywhere near it. But it's only a few miles away as the crow flies so if I hear a boom and the house starts to crumple, I know it's likely not an earthquake but that gas repository.

Well folks, a sweet lady brought me some pink eyed purple hull peas that I have to shell, and some peaches and tomatoes.
Her brother was indicted on a white collar crime, to do with post Katrina cleanup--the meekest little old man imaginable. He lost his job on the Board of Supervisors, and is being sent to prison where he will probably die, and fined thousands of dollars. The nicest upright folks you could ever meet. Prosecution gave everybody else involved a slap on the wrist, but threw the book at this meek little man, who certainly had a sorry ass lawyer.
America! A woman like Casey Anthony murders her little daughter and walks out free as a bird, but this little man winds up being a patsy and going to prison. America! For shame!
