Since I have been talking about buying a punching bag to help with my impact exercise to work against osteoporosis, Dolly has been suggesting that I put it in the garage and work with it in there. In addition, because I would need to move the car in and out, I could avoid that if I just parked the car (my car) in the driveway, then she could also move the futon and other stuff out of the extra room and she could convert that into a sewing room. On the rare occasions that we have guests staying over, we can move the futon back and re-arrange that room into a guest room.
It's a small room and with the futon folded up as a couch, there's some space for a small table and a chair and the surface of futon itself can be used to "hold" stuff. It would be a nicer sewing room if that thing was out of there. If we got rid of it entirely, then it would be gone, but we would have no "bed" for the rare overnight guests. We have a (double-size) air mattress, but the futon is raised and more like a bed.
Moving things into the garage, and eliminating it as a car storage area, seems to be the norm these days. Need more "living" space.
An issue is the street-parking situation. Sometimes Dolly parks her car in the driveway because there is no nearby spot on the street. If my car is in the driveway already, that's not an option anymore. Of course, hers could take up the driveway and I could park on the street instead, since there's not much difference if they are both outside anyway.
