Hospital Stay

The only times I've ever been admitted to a hospital in my entire 45 years of life is when giving birth to my three children.

That is... until last Friday.

I had been sick for about 9 days with something that I thought I could fight off by my own, but last Friday night, I ruptured or burst something in my colon and starting bleeding out.

My husband rushed me to the hospital and by the Grace of God, my daughter had picked up an extra 4 hour shift in the emergency room that Friday night and she was there when I pulled in.

I won't go into all the details, but I lost quite a bit of blood and my hemoglobin count got within the dangerous levels and I was 1/10 of a point count away from requiring a blood transfusion.

They put me on a couple of antibiotics and I stayed in the hospital for 5 days.

I have been extremely weak and with a suppressed immune system, I also caught a sinus cold which I am fighting off right now.

I'm feeling better today. My doctor said it will take 3-4 weeks to rebuild the blood count back towards normal. It will be hard for me to "take it easy" but I will. I don't ever want to be that sick again.

My daughter was so wonderful in the hospital. I truly saw how knowledgeable she is in her job. And although I could see the terror in her eyes when she saw the blood, she was very loving and reassuring and said "Mom, we'er going to fix whatever it is... whatever it is...it's going to be ok."

My husband has of course been his usual wonderful self. He just wants his wife back, laughing and vibrant again.

My sister came over one day and brought a bunch of food and took care of me for the day.

My sister in law picked my kids up from school one day and came over to check on me.

My parents call a couple of times a day and have been praying for me.

My younger kids are obviously worried sick as they've NEVER seen their Mother down like this.

I am blessed to have such a loving and caring family.

I have tons of stories to tell you about my hospital stay, but that will be for another day. I just wanted to log on for a couple of minutes to let you know "where" I've been.

I miss you all
