10 More Miles

My Half Marathon training is getting super serious!

I'm prepping to do 10 miles tomorrow with a few walking breaks. I did almost 4 on Tuesday on the mountain trail, and 6.5 miles on Thursday morning with a killer (yet awesome) hill in the first half of the run.

The girls in my running group decided to nickname me "The Pusher" since I tend to run ahead of them and anyone running with me will be pushing themselves to run a little faster to keep up. V told me it was a good thing to have me in the group pushing them to up their pace. I'm guessing they will take turns running with me in the future. LOL Since I end up doubling back about 50 yards to do the walking portions of the run with the group.

Two of the three girls in my running group have yet to actually sign up for the Half and I got an email today warning that the spots are filling up.

My 10 miles on Saturday will be alone and I need to drive my route before I run it tomorrow morning to make sure I don't park too far away and end up doing more than 10. Which at this point would fall into the "over-training category" which I definitely don't want to do. Especially considering how tired I feel right now.

Good thing I happened to walk down the health & beauty care aisle and spotted the last bottle of Tiger Balm on the shelf at the grocery store. That felt so good on my calves last night after spin class... and it smells so good too. I love the hint of cloves in the balm.

I'll definitely be using it again after tomorrow's run. I just hope I can not push myself too hard and burn out before I reach the ten mile mark.

Maybe I can use the Chi Running tips I got from the lecture at the Expo I went to on Saturday...

Zen Running! LOL

You wrote the other day that you are learning to slow down and pace yourself from them. They are learning to go faster to stay up with "the pusher"
