Lose Yourself in the Music
I survived my second weekend alone. It's getting easier but Sunday evening was tough.
I really enjoyed Shakespeare in the Park on Friday evening with Hans and his GF. It was opening night of Henry V. Planning out which night to see the Tempest later this month. Saturday afternoon, I went with a friend to her company picnic on the Santa Monica Pier. We ate BBQ and rode the Ferris wheel next to the ocean.
I decided that I needed to get out again so I met up with friends on Saturday night at a warehouse carnival aka art fundraiser.
There were several awkward moments of mutual friends asking where Thom was and trying to console me when I told them we broke up. I did dread that he might show but he didn't. Schwooo! I also got, "You're still injured!???" :sigh: And having to explain that tendons take anywhere from a couple weeks to a year to heal fully.
I purposely did not drink that night because A. budget B. didn't want to numb any pain I might have had with being on my feet all night. I danced my butt off and my ankles held up well but my calves ended up very sore. There weren't a lot of places to sit so my feet got tired before my ankles did and I left at 2am.
I can't tell you how much I needed to dance on Saturday night. I wasn't even planning to. It just felt so good to get lost in the music and the crowd. Almost as good as running on trails with my ipod or taking a great spin class. Plus, it was nice to Not talk to my friends but just to be around them. Jules already knew so she kept it fun and not serious for me. I always have fun when she's around.
Dancing definitely gave me an outlet that I haven't really had in some time.
