That's right people, I've been completely lazy this weekend. I didn't do a single workout on Saturday or Sunday. Not even a single crunch. LOL
I ran about 2.7 miles on Friday evening (1.8 mile run, .9 mile walk, .9 mile run followed by a cool down walk). My knees were hurting yet again even with a brace on my right knee. I decided that I needed new shoes and a new running style. E pointed out that I'm lifting my knees up high and bringing my heels down hard when I jog. So basically I'm running like a cyclist and not like a runner.
I tried to go to a professional running shoe store but after driving all the way to Encino and finding a closed sign on the door, I headed home. Bleck! I had heard it was a great store but their hours suck. Radar called and we chit chatted and he mentioned that his cross-country running sis said that nike shox made her knees hurt too. So I jumped back in the car and bought some New Balances at a nearby sports store after trying on seven pairs. I was not gonna risk my knees again in the shox after hearing that.
So Tuesday or Wednesday I'll get to test out the new shoes on the ol' dirt track. I'm debating hiring a trainer to give me running tips and critique my style, but it's all about the money at this point.
I will say that HW's birthday extravaganza was so much fun and I was so happy to have TBD there with me. I still like that bastard and missed him the past couple weeks. When we got back to his place he gushed over my all my accomplishments and my running a 10k. He commented that my picture on my donation page looked really powerful. He joked that I'm so positive and so inspirational yet he hasn't been inspired to do anything about his own weight gain. I can't give my motivation away but I would.
I may have been lazy this weekend but my body and my mind needed a break and I will wake up at 6am tomorrow and get back to my routine.
