I Remember Those Days ... .

Millions of people who long for immortality can't figure out what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday....Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
We had to change our plans yesterday to go to the Kennedy museum because the furniture that Holly and Bevan ordered for Taylor arrived and was delivered.
The furniture store called yesterday morning  to say that the truck would be at their house sometime between 1 and 5 p.m. but possibly earlier.  I just love how these people give their customers such good service.
Basically, that pretty much translates to "look for us sometime within the next twelve hours."
At any rate, they finally showed about 2 p.m.  By the time they unloaded and set it up, it was pushing three o'clock.  So, instead of going to the museum, we all went to the community pool, which had just opened.
The kids had been bugging us since last Saturday to go swimming and we kept telling them it was "too cold."  But, we finally gave in.

To say that the water was icy would be an understatement.  I stuck my toes in;  that was enough for me.
Bevan walked out up to his waist, then declared,  "I think if I go in any deeper, I will have a heart attack!"
Holly never even put her toes in. Now, I know why they pay her the big bucks!! She's smarter than we are!!
The kids, of course,  made running leaps.  All three came up gasping for breath;  but they toughed it out until their body temperatures adjusted, playing, splashing, and swimming  for the next two hours.
I remember those days when I just couldn't wait for the first swim or the first trip to the lake.

Loved to go to the North Avenue Beach in Chicago and swim in Lake Michigan. Lake waters are pretty cold. Michigan is so large, it has surf. I was a kid. I adjusted. Now, I'd probably go numb and drown. Sounds like you had a good day anyway.

I never really liked the water, although I was in it a lot. I faked pleasure. And it has to be warm! The museum can wait for a rainy day.

Sounds like a great day.

Every day that I am given to spend with those I love most is a good day, regardless of what we do. We hope still to go to the museum in the near future.

don't cha just love service people(delivery, cable, phone etc.)who give you ridiculous time frames and you have to waste a whole half a day waiting for them. sheesh. I 'amember when they'd open the municipal pools on Memorial Day. We couldn't wait either.

I could write a book about my opinion of service people. Yes, Memorial Day used to be the official day for opening of pools. Still may be for public pools, I'm not sure.

Cold water, furniture being delivered in middle of the afternoon and all I can tell you had a great time--you are not kidding anyone Nana!

I must confess I would much have preferred the museum, but I always enjoy watching my grandchildren have fun as well.

As a kid, I adored the water and endless hours of swimming fun, and then loved swimming as exercise until fibromyalgia struck 20 years ago, necessitating a therapeutic warm water temperature in the pool, which I find very hard to find. That icy water would have done me in, but I'll bet it was fun to watch the kids. Hope you all get to go to the museum soon.

The water temperature gets almost tepid here in the hot summer months. It would probably do you good.

Come down to Florida in the summertime--the water temp is warmer than the air temperature!
