Holly
and Bevan are back from Hawaii. Little Buddy did not feel well
intermittently on the trip as well as on the plane coming home. She has
been experiencing tummy pain. Last night it became so bad that they
took her to the emergency room when she began to have trouble breathing.
After
running all kinds of tests and x-rays, it turns out she has gas bubbles
all throughout her tummy and chest cavity. The doctor called it
"children's colic."Â Â I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen the
x-ray showing all the bubbles. Â She now has some medicine to help with
it, and she has to be on a restricted diet for a while. Thought this was
a problem for people my age, not an eight-year-old.
The
weather has just been beautiful. Everything is green already, roses
are blooming, the dogwood and azaleas are gorgeous. I have never seen
Spring come this early; however, given the fact that we virtually had no
winter, I suppose it is not surprising.
We
have also had plentiful rain during the winter and spring. Most of the
ponds and lakes should be replenished here in the Dallas area. I know
that has not been the case everywhere. Many places in both Oklahoma and
Texas are still suffering from the drought.
Bailey
and Tailor, both of whom have read all three of the books in "The
Hunger Games" series, went yesterday to see the first of what I
understand will be four movies based on these books. They thought the
movie was good. It is setting and breaking all kinds of records already
at the box office. Its opening this past weekend grossed the most
ever, discounting inflation, for a non-sequel movie, and the third
biggest gross of all openings.Â
Amazingly,
even though it is primarily a movie that appeals most to the "young
adult" genre. over 50 per cent of those who saw it during its opening
weekend were over the age of 25. Â The reviews also have been mostly
positive.
 Rottentomatoes.com
gave it an 85 per cent "fresh tomato" rating with only 15 per cent of
their critics rating it "rotten." Their comment:Â "Thrilling and
superbly acted, The Hunger Games captures the dramatic violence, raw
emotion, and ambitious scope of its source novel."
Personally, I don't think it's my genre; but, then, I suspect my two-generational gap away from my grandchildren is showing.
