Give Me the Good Life

The pool area where I live

We have a really nice pool where I live; however, it is about to get even nicer.  Beginning this week, workers are going to be doing a lot of work on it, so it will be closed until early June.

They plan to replace all the decking,  move the fence on the east side to allow residents on that side easier access to their apartments and add an outdoor kitchen. Currently, they have to walk through the pool area to get to their apartments.  When the work completes,  the management promises to throw a big grand re-opening for the residents and their guests.

Having an outdoor kitchen will make it so much nicer when groups wish to meet there with friends and family.   All the residents can hardly wait to see how it looks when they finish.

Really enjoyed the Sunday brunch at Holly and Bevan's club yesterday.  There was so much food it was hard to know what to choose.  They had one table just for children with all their favorites...macaroni and cheese, chicken tenders, and much more.

There were lots of families there with their kids of all ages, including babies. As we were leaving, Kenzie casually remarked, "I think I'll definitely wear the patch like Mom when I grow up"(Holly wears a birth control patch).

Holly turned to her and said, "WHERE did that come from?"

To which she replied, "Oh, you know, just babies everywhere!"

Holly had NO idea she even knew she wore a patch, much less why!! Big EARS!!!

This is one of the senior country clubs in Dallas, currently celebrating its 55th anniversary.  The nice thing about it is that it already has all the facilities one could want, a world-class tennis facility, voted #1 in the nation by the US Tennis Association, a 54 hole golf course (Bevan's favorite place, of course); four swimming pools, lots of activities for kids.

They had been looking at clubs near them for about a year; but this one suited their needs best. They actually joined about three months ago.   I'm looking forward to spending lots of time there this summer.

Plus, it is a clubcorps facility, which gives Holly and Bevan access and free amenities at clubs all over the world.  While they were in Hawaii, they ate at a five star clubcorp restaurant in downtown Honolulu free. Bevan can play golf at any other clubcorps facility free as well.

Forget "roughing it".  Give me the good life anyday!

I guess this isn't the time to mention I'm going tent camping for a week soon. Makes me appreciate a real bed, etc.

I've never been a fan of camping, but lots of people love bugs and ticks.

Oops! typo Meant to say "sex thing", not "six thing"

It is really nice. You would absolutely love the tennis facilities. They have both outdoor and indoor courts. As for the "six" thing, that one left us all with our mouths dropped.

We, too, are having our pool redone--long story short--Board of Health insists on bathrooms (after 40 years without them--one of the 'seniors' having anything to do called into the BH)--hopefully everything will be done by summer.

Well our community room may not look like a country club we do have catered meals every holiday!!!

Kids know a lot about sex these days--too much?

Time to go back to our 'poor' lives

We have one of the nicer pools I have seen at an apartment complex, so I was surprised when I found out they were going to be doing all this work to it. It is nice to get a free catered meal for holidays. The last place I lived had the meals but we had to pay for them, which I thought was cheap on their part. As for Kenzie's comment, it blew us all away.
