I'm back with an update. The big news here is that Holly and Bevan got their first look at their home after their tenants moved out. They were sick, to say the least.
The amount of work they are going to have to do before they can move back in is just overwhelming. Their kitchen cabinets have to be completely redone; the tile in three of the four bathrooms is totally ruined; the wiring is jerked loose and broken on two of their ceiling fans; the return air vents are so caked with dust that the entire duct system will have to be cleaned; some of their wood on their wood flooring will have to be replaced; the French doors going into the office are so scratched from dogs jumping on them that they will have to be replaced; the carpet is so filthy that Holly refuses to walk on it without shoes; and that is just what she could remember off the top of her head. She said it's so bad that it's hard to know what to tackle first.
They had planned to repaint and put new carpet down anyway; but this is way beyond what they had planned to spend. They cancelled a new dining room set and hutch they had planned to buy because now they need that money just to get their house liveable again.
They have to be out of this house by July 1. They will doing some of this, I am sure, after they move in. The bathrooms, the carpet, painting and the duct work are top priority right now. Some of the painting they will hire done; some they will do themselves. Their entry way requires scaffolding because it is so high, so they have hired professional painters to do it and the hallway.
Kenzie has her first swim meet tonight at 7 p.m. I may be taking her as they are overwhelmed with work. Holly took the day off because they now have to shop for tile for the three bathrooms. Â
Thankfully, Bevan's youngest brother is an independent contractor. He is going to do the tile for them, hang their new doors, and fix their hardwood floors.  However, he lives in Tulsa and will have to find a time to come down to do it.
That's the bad news. Here's the good news! My OU Sooner women are playing tonight at 7 p.m. (CDT) in the first of a best of three finals of the Women's College Softball World Series. They will be taking on Alabama. Should be fun to watch.
Also, the Thunder and the Spurs meet tonight in San Antonio for Game Five to determine the western conference champion in the NBA. They are currently tied at 2-2. I'll have to switch back and forth between the OU women and the OKC Thunder game.
I'll be back Friday (or shortly thereafter) with another "Friday Report" for you.
