All day yesterday and now today, there's been continuous coverage about the fires in Southern California.
Gov. Schwarzenneger just finished a speech outlining the ways people will be covered by insurance. Evacuation expenses are covered by homeowner's insurance... who knew?
Also, scam artists come out by the dozens to disaster-stricken situations.
Thousands of people were evacuated, temporarily put up in schools. After interviewing a few evacuees, one got the sense that people were being taken care of, but also that they were anxious to get back to their homes.
Evidently, the Santa Ana winds cause huge problems b/c flare-ups can jump distances and catch an entirely new area on fire.
They keep vacillating on the percentage of containment from 20% to 70% - all controlled optimism (according to news anchors).
The last time regular programming was pre-empted was 9/11.
Have a good day all. Off to design my greeting cards...
