No Food for Fat Folks in Mississippi

That's right. If you live in the great state of
Mississippi and
you have a body mass index (BMI)
of 30 or more, you may be denied service at restaurants soon.

There is a bill working its way through the Mississippi House of
Representatives now that would require restaurants to refuse to serve
patrons who are obese.
The bill would require eateries to keep track of customers BMI's and
have scales at the doors. The states Department of Health would be
responsible for enforcing compliance, and would revoke business permits
for those dining establishments that violated the legislation.

Hmmm... If I take most of my clothes off before I hit the scale, I just squeak by....

How about building more YMCA facilities and having diet, exercise & healthy life style classes. I think that would be a better use of taxpayer money rather than making restaurants the "diet police."

That is just wrong! I mean we should encourage healthy living, NOT enforce it. You want to eat, eat, you want to smoke, smoke. its all part of that whole "liberty" problem some government people seem to stumble with.

The government thinks of the public as a bunch of offenders to start with. It's just a matter of discovering what offense we've committed: theft, assault, tax evasion, eating cupcakes...

It says in the article that they are going to shoot down the bill but it just goes to show you exactly how much government involvement that people want in our lives. It's a little bit ridiculous.
