My daughter who loves to dance has sprained her ankle and won't be able to dance in The Nutcracker this year. So sad. She's been lying on the couch, elevating it, and trying to stay off of it as much as possible.
I overworked my hip while finishing the house so I have been limping more than usual as well. On my flight home I had to change planes. I was hoping the gates wouldn't be very far apart because I knew I would be hard pressed to walk very far with my heavy bag. It turned out to be about the equivalent of about four or five blocks.
I made it to the new gate only to find a sign saying there had been a gate change. I wasn't familiar enough with the airport to know where the new gate was, but because it was a letter far removed from the letter I was then in, I assumed it was too far for me to limp to in the time I had available. For the first time in my life I asked for help in the form of a wheel chair.
It was a little embarrassing being pushed around, but it proved to be the right decision. Turns out there was a train at that airport. Even with the train ride, and a young man pushing me, we barely made it to the new gate in time. When we arrived at the final destination they had another wheelchair waiting for me, which I sheepishly accepted and greatly appreciated.
So, we are quite a pair. I hope she heals quickly. I just need to take it easy for a few days and I'll be back to where I was, which isn't that great but usually doesn't keep me from doing what I need to do. It does, however, keep me from doing what I WANT to do sometimes. Perhaps it's time to do something about it.
