Violets Are Blue by James Patterson

I have so been looking forward to this one! You all know about my addiction to vampires, and Alex Cross gets a chance to take on a serial murderers with a vampiric twist.

Alex is brought out west to assist in an investigation into a case that centers around a couple that was hung upside-down and drained of blood in San Francisco. This ends up being repeated, and the FBI and police start to realize that this is just one case in a trail that spans both coasts and 11 years. Alex and his long-time friend in the FBI, Kyle Craig, find themselves racing across thec ountry in the hopes of finding the murderers, who live in the dark underground where people truly believe they are vampires.

Alex is also being haunted by his old nemesis, the Mastermind, who has been taunting him on a regular basis with calls on his cell phones and ongoing threats to hurt Alex by harming his family and friends.

Now, readers of the series already know the identity of the Mastermind since he was named at the conclusion of the previous novel, but that just makes the suspense even stronger. Even with this, though, there is room for mystery as the reader has no idea who the Sire, the leader of the vampires, is.

This is another great page-turner in the series!
