The last couple of days I have been confronted with all sorts of issues when it comes to keys. I seem to be fated to completely misplace them. It is actually pretty funny.
It all started yesterday, when it was time for me to head out to work. Ray had left to go to Mass and visit with his parents. I always keep my wallet, keys, etc. on top of the microwave in the kitchen. When I went to start stuffing my pockets, I realized that my keys weren't there. Now, I could have just grabbed my spare keys for the truck. The problem is that I would not have the key for the library, and I am the person who opens the door! That would be bad.
I decided to call Ray, who was at his parents by that point. Fortunately, that turned out to be a good decision, because he had noticed that I had left them on the island. He had not been sure why. When I had brought my laptop case downstairs, I had put it right on top of them so I did no even notice. I was thrilled to have them, though, I did want to ask him why he hadn't put them back where I normally keep them.
When I got to work, the trend seemed to continue. While I was going around turning everything on, I stopped to wind the grandfather clock. When I was getting the crank, I dropped the key for the door to the pendulum. It went sliding somewhere, and we still haven't found it!
Today, I ended up with my pockets full of keys. I have my usual keychain with the keys for my truck, the door to the library, the door to the staff lounge and a few other doors. I also have a keychain that I keep my work keys to various spaces on. Well, today, Ray noticed that my tires were looking a little light on the pressure so he had me leave the truck behind so he could have them filled. I got to take the Mustang to work, which meant taking another set of keys!
So, it seems that I am fated to lose keys I need and lug around extra ones I don't.
