Reno 911!: the Movie

Ray really wanted to catch this one. We both enjoy the show on Comedy Central. We don't watch it regularly, but it is good from time to time.

For those of you unfamiliar with the show, it centers around the sheriff's department of Reno, Nevada. The team seems to be made up of a complete group of misfits which would make the characters in the Police Academy movies seems perfect.

They are off to a police convention in Miami Beach, Florida. After being unable to register for a hotel room at the center, they find themselves at a dive on the outskirts of the city. This proves to be a boon when terrorists hit the convention, infecting everyone with a virus that will kill them.

It is up to the staff of the Reno sheriff's department to not only solve the case, but also patrol the streets of Miami Beach all on their own. The film has no shortage of crass, low-brow humor, which is usually a plus for me.

Unfortunately, I just found myself bored out of my mind. There was just too many situations that were totally unrealistic that I could not sit back and enjoy it. The whole thing seems to work better as a television show, which is really a take-off on the reality show Cops. Ray really seemed to enjoy it, which surprised me because he is way more of a prude than I am.

I love Reno 911. I've watched it in re-runs on regular TV. It is simple, silly fun. I love each character in the series -- its funny because the other night I was watching Clean House (which I love) on the Style channel and the African American host on that program was one of the officers from Reno 911. I don't intend on watching the movie.

I missed this one--sounds like I should be glad I did--even if I often agree more with Ray than you when it comes to movies--and just what's wrong with us 'prudes'?!?!?!?
