I have had a MySpace for a long time, but I never really did too much with it. Mostly, it was because I was just plain old lazy. It had a basic design that some of the kids in the afterschool center taught me how to activate, but that was about it.
After sorting out a few features a couple of weeks ago, I decided to start playing around with it. Mostly, it is because I get so many questions at work about it because people don't really know how to use it. Since I didn't either, you can pretty much guess that I had no ability in sorting it out for them.
Well, I have actually been sorting it out. I even spent some time today sorting out a chance to request friends with a ton of authors for young adults. I also started searching out some people I knew professionallly that I thought would have one.
In a way, it actually gave me a chance to see why the kids get so caught up in it. It is kind of like a mystery search to find people. And designing the site gives you a good opportunity to express yourself through colors, fonts, graphics, music, and videos. It is kind of fun.
Of course, I will probably give up on it and never really use it much again. I do feel that I might actually be able to help people when they have questions about it now, though.
