As you all know, Ray and I do our grocery shopping every Friday after he does his morning bus run. It usually works out nice. It gives us some time together, and it makes the chore a shared task. We actually end up driving north into Massachusetts to do our shopping because it is one of the closest good-sized supermarkets that have good prices.
Well, when we got home, we started putting the groceries away. By the time we were done, I realized that we were missing a few of the canned goods and my restock of razor blades. If it had just been the three cans, I would not have worried too much about it, but the razors are a little pricy so we called the store and learned that we had, in fact, forgotten said bag. I took a few moments before the call to run through the receipt to highlight everything that was missing.
To make matters more interesting, I did not realize that one of the items was actually for my mother-out-of-law. I had been jonesing for grilled cheese this week, so we made sure to stop at the deli and get real cheese. We usually try to go with healthy fat free stuff most of the time, but you can't make grilled cheese with that stuff, because the water that is used to replace the fat leaks into the bread making the whole thing into a mushy mess more like cheesy bread pudding than a sandwich. The new package of butter was not actually meant to be opened at our house.
Poor Ray had to drive up after work to go pick up the bad as well as a new container of butter. It worked out in the end, but I felt bad.
