Here Comes Logo

We got some information from our cable company about the changes they are making in their station offerings. One of the big things is that we are going to be getting access to the Logo Network. For those of you unfamiliar with it, it is a network created by MTV to provide programming specifically for the GLBTQQ community.

I have been particularly interested in a vampire show they have, but I hear that they offer a lot of really good shows and documentaries on it.

Ray is a bit crushed that they are shuffling some of the station we already watch like BBC America and the Soap Network. They are also adding Chillers, which is a network dedicated to monster and horror movies.

So, this all kicks in on June 18th. I can't wait!

I believe there were at least three companies when cable first came to RI and each had their own area. (I forget who was in northern RI, the headquarters were in North Smithfield or Woonsocket, on Rte. 146, I believe.) Full Channel was the company in the Bristol County, RI area. They never went out of business, even as Cox expanded. Because of Full Channel's existence, they remained the sole provider in the area until a few years back when Cox was granted permission to enter this territory. Since then, there have been the two companies to choose from. Full Channel was already hooked up and running when we moved here, so it is the company we have. And, like I said, for reasons not to be discussed, we have stayed with Full Channel and will continue to do so.

Cox is in Bristol, but I have Full Channel and it's necessary for us to stay with Full Channel. It's a long story why, but the bottom line is that Full Channel will probably remain our only option until who knows when, maybe forever.

I am a bit jealous. I hear Logo is pretty darn good, but it is not available through my cable provider. Well, maybe someday it will be.

I don't think we have Logo yet from my cable company. The only new programming I know about is the Green Channel.

Gosh, I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't heard of LOGO. I think we have something like AT&T here... Does that make any sense? We used to have Verizon, but I haven't seen them around much lately. If I were used to a certain group of stations, I would be upset, too. But we don't watch TV much, which is why we don't have pay TV. PBS serves our needs, I guess.

I'm sort of a vampire junkie. First I fell in love with Dracula (the Stoker version) then Interview and then Lestat, etc. I want to read Twilight. I hear it is excellent. I've always been intrigued by the "undead" LOL

That's cool you'll be getting LOGO. I've heard lots of good things about the channel. I wonder if the commercials will be gay focused -you know, instead of seeing a man and woman together all the time (not that there's anything wrong with that).

We get Logo, and they do have some really good shows. I love BBC too. I would hate to loose it. My fav show on BBC is Torchwood...have you ever seen it?

Chillers sounds good. I love horror, sci fi etc. finally the gay community has its own cable network. I wonder if our local cable outfit is going to be makin any changes. I hope so....seven home shopping networks and four country music channels is a bit much.

Logo is a new one. I had not heard of it before; but for the gay/lesbian community, I can see how they would look forward to having it.

Sundance is really a good independant channel-- a lot of good films, documentariies, specials, etc.

We don't get Logo or Here--every June I have to depend on Showtime, Sundance, Bravo, etc., with their acknowledging Gay Pride Month.
I would love to get BBC America.
