Training Fun

I saw a book at work recently that is a workbook for you and your dog to help the human train the dog fun tricks. I swear my Kraymer is just *BRILLIANT*! I taught him "Paws Up!" (putting the two front paws on whatever I am pointing to) in about 10 minutes. I then tried with Tucker. He's a bit more of a challenge in the training realm... I got him to do what I wanted, but I really don't think he "get's it." When I took him to the mini stairs R built for Kraymer to get on the bed and said "Paws Up!" he got all four paws up on one single stair. Perhaps he thought he was going to out-do the request I made of him and be overly rewarded with treats in the end? hehe I have no idea.

I also read recently that if your dog has had prior training (throughout their life, really) they are much easier to train new things to. This kinda makes sense in the Tucker v. Kraymer learning speed since when I met R, Tuckers one command was "Act Right!" which he usually just looked the other way and kept doing whatever he was doing. Gotta love the pair of em! Kraymer on the other hand has been trained all along. I like teaching him new things and he's an EXCELLENT student! I figure I will keep introducing new things to him to keep his mind sharp as he gets older. :0)

Now I hafta brag a bit about my Krayms, a day later (and about 20 minutes of training later) if I say "Paws Up!" and hold my arm out he puts his paws on my arm. Soooo cute!

Anywho - things are going... people seem to like the invites we sent out for the wedding - well, the two people I have heard from anyways - so hopefully the RSVP mad lib style we went with won't overly confuse people. I think the responses will be fun to read though and not so boring!

Happy Thursday peeps... :0)
