I saw him the parking lot at home on Monday. Kraymer and I got amazingly close to him which I found odd. Cats normally run away from dogs! So he eventually got up and ran under a car but I told R something wasn't right and that he looked really skinny. I had a can of cat food so I took it outside and threw it in his general direction, and he ate some of it. Poor dude.
R saw him a few days after that. R said he was playing and seemed to be just fine. I felt relieved. I saw him again on Friday while I was looking out the window waiting for the AC guy to come. He looked awful to me! I grabbed my last cat treat supply and went outside to get something in his belly. He actually came out to me while I was feeding him and was meowing quite loudly. I got a really good look at him and decided he needed help. SKIN AND BONES! Poor thing! So I called Animal Control and they said they wouldn't come get skinny cats. I explained that he was close to death because I could feel every bone in his body but they still wouldn't come. They said I could bring him in, so I called R at work and asked him to leave early so we could take him in. So I brought him inside in the meantime and tried to give him water which he didn't want. :0(
We decided to call the little guy trooper since he was SO skinny yet still so friendly and seemed to be in good spirits. :0)
So now I am in the fearful mindset that if he is sick, he's going to be put down after spending his last days in a cage. I have talked to many people about this and most say that if he is sick, he's better off being put out of his misery rather than fighting out his last days in the wild and hungry. I am praying for him that he'll gain some weight and be someone's friendly little pet. I am going to call the shelter on Tuesday (the next time they are open) to see what is up with him. They said he'd be put up for adoption and if that doesn't work they will call a Siamese rescue, so that's good. If Tucker didn't eat cats I would be VERY tempted to keep him, he was soooo friendly and cute! Just terribly skinny...
Anywho, that's been on my mind all weekend. I am truly hoping for a positive update on Tuesday!!!
Happy Sunday peeps!
