R and I saw Food Inc., a movie/documentary last night after a most wonderful dinner in a nearby village. MMM It was good and I will be back!
So Food Inc. is an exceptional movie that everyone should take the time to watch. It's very explanatory and it really makes ya feel for the American farmers plight. I seriously want to send them all a check for $5,000 just to help them. They are truly being strangled by big company's. It was a very worthwhile and eye opening movie about where our food comes from. Everything is affected, meat, veggies, EVERYTHING we eat. It's kinda scary how much control a few corporations hold. And what do we know about giant corporations? The people on the top are out for the almighty dollar - they could care less about the health and well being of you and I and our families.
Another interesting thing was how much control the food industry has over legal issues. Remember when Oprah was sued by a giant meat company for saying she wasn't going to eat another burger due to mad cow??? Oprah survived the whole process because of her wealth, but these poor farmers... these poor hardworking farmers... they don't stand a chance. If they want to survive they need to play by the rules these giant corporations make up whether they agree with them or not.
In the end, it's really a movie that reminds us that WE, as consumers, HAVE COMPLETE CONTROL over the direction our food production goes. Support local farmers markets. Buy organic. Don't buy from corporations who exploit their workers and animals... It's all up to us. Very empowering! A must see!
