Cigarette Tax

*****I just reread this and it's quite the mish mosh. I dunno if anyone will be able to make sense of it, but I am posting it anyways. haha*****

I just ran across an article on CNN about the new tax on smokes.

I am reading the comments people make and some are down right funny... others kinda hit the nail on the head...

Why do we not put a scale at the end of a grocery store checkout and tax obese people heavily (no pun intended)? They are a burden on the system right along with smokers. We are addicted to cigarettes they are addicted to food.

Why do we not tax the crap outta big businesses that contribute to global warming? FACTORY FARMS should be put out of business on that alone if that was instated.

Then there are people who say that taxpayers pay for smokers who are cancer victims...

I have a friend who is an oncology doctor who is getting out of the "business" because he can't stand turning people away from treatment. How are taxpayers footing the bill?

Granted I do not know much about any of this crap. I just found it interesting.... people's reasons for and against it intrigued me so I thought I would share.
