I couldn't decide weather to post under Politics or Religion on this one. Maybe we need a new category....Politics AND Religion. Oh well, here goes....
As I watch my country being torn apart by all the division, I continually ask myself....why. I get so angry...and yes...saddened by this sideshow we call an election cycle. Before you know it it becomes the center of my focus. Nowadays, if you focus on politics, and your a conservative, you've GOT to be scratching your head wondering, how can so many people hate America? They (the left) wouldn't define it as hate of course and maybe in some way that I can't quite conceive of, it isn't.
As I said, if I'm not careful, politics becomes my focus.
When I as a Christian change my focus however, from politics to Jesus Christ, things become much clearer. Jesus Christ should at all times be the object of my focus, sadly I succumb to the same temptation over and over again. You see, I love this country, I would and perhaps will have to fight and die for her. Yet at the same time I am commanded to "love my enemies."
I fully realize that wars were fought in Biblical times, sanctioned, even commanded by God. So, what's a Christian conservative to do in these troubled, perhaps last days? Just as a matter of clarification, I'm not even addressing this war (in Iraq) but this culture war we find ourselves in today. I fully believe the war on terror is a just war and we're lucky enough to have a President that understands that also. (though he is terribly flawed in other areas in my opinion)
My problem is the communist left that threatens America and all she stands for. I have to battle them and a growing hatred of their attacks. Of course they don't see themselves as "communistic" I'm sure. Trouble is you can almost super impose the Communist party USA's platform over the Democratic party's.

They truly are blind fools. I heard on the news within the last few days Russia is blaming Dick Cheney for the trouble in Georgia, an idea they got from the left in OUR country always and forever running down this administration or one given to the left here BY the commies is debatable.
I should feel sorry for them I suppose, but I just get MAD!
I have a very wise friend, in fact a couple of them that continually tell me to change my focus, so it's not like I don't know WHAT to do, it's that I have enormous trouble DOING IT! It's not my job to save America, neither could I do it if it were, but it seems I must continually try. Don't we as Christians have an obligation to fight evil? It seems so to me.
Perhaps rather than blogging and trying to open blind eyes to threats I see, my time would be better spent on my knees. Someone said "prayer IS firing the winning shot."
If these are truly the last day's, and I increasingly believe they are, then a few things are very likely to happen whether I fight against them tooth and nail or not.
The country may very well be destroyed. There likely will be economic depression and worldwide hunger. No America, no global cop running around the world putting out fires. Islam, Russia and China will become the future power brokers of our world, there will be murder on a scale never even imagined by most of you because neither of those entities share the left's sense of tolerance and diversity.
Jesus said that in the last day's these things must be speaking of events leading to the end of days. He goes on to say "let not your heart be troubled", mine is troubled nevertheless.
That leads me to a sense of inevitability that is crushing to me. I don't want to go through it. The Bible describes those times as the worst ever seen on earth or ever will be seen again. Many, perhaps most of my brethren believe we, as believers, will be spared all this tribulation because of the rapture theory. I'm somewhat of a skeptic on anything not explicitly spelled out in the Bible and the rapture is a relatively new concept in Christianity. I'm willing to be convinced, but still have reservations.
God promises to go through things with us, but not necessarily spare us from consequences of a fallen world.
"Everyone want's to go to heaven, but nobody want's to die to get there."
Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus.
Just my opinion,
Bill
I too love this country. I fought for it, as did my dad and my uncles. And yet I see Mr. Bush as doing SO MUCH HARM to its citizens with his ridiculous domestic policies, (removing our civil rights as if there was NO SUCH THING as The Constitution, and pandering to big business at the expense of the average, middle class American, such as myself.), and his narrow-minded and short sighted foreign policies that have turned most of the other countries with whom we share the planet against us! And I not even going to go into the environmental crimes that he has perpetrated upon the land(and, in the long run, our grandchildren).
Please don't tell me that you love this country any more than I do. If so, I'll just have to call you a liar and discount your arguments as the ravings of a narrow-minded person who thinks his way is the only right way of viewing things.
We both know that that's not true.
