I am working on three paintings in larger sizes, from 30 x 24 up to 36 x 30.
Above: Sitting at the coffee shop I was asked by my friend Dr, John Bing if I could paint a canvas of "...that wall as it looks right now." I stood up and viewed the wall behind the couch where I had sat. A photo or painting usually hung there but it was empty and had a shadow cast in reflected light bounced off a building across the street. I photographed it. My painting will be of the wall and the empty nail, and of the top of the couch cushions, and I plan to hang the painting exactly there! Art of "found art!" Art imitates life. LOL.
Above: Burano is one of the two craftsmen islands north of Venice in the lagoon. On a small motorboat going from Venice to the airport you pass through this island in its single canal. Burano is known for the fine lace its craftworkers produce. I was shooting photos of the multi-colored houses along the canal and saw these clotheslines with shadows bouncing in the breeze.
Above: I have not painted figures in years. This is experimental and challenging. It will be titled "GOODBYE JAKE." I don't have an answer why. It just popped into my head when I sketched the composition.
