I got up just before four a.m. My back had been rolling me over all night. Finally, I gave up and came down to turn on the coffee.
Then I went out all bundled against the single-digit temperature. The newspaper hadn't arrived yet but the snowstorm hadn't either. It was far too dry. The meter said that the dew point was 3 degrees F. That is far too low humidity to precipitate anything.
I just went out again at 6:30 and it had started. There is nearly a whiteout. About a half inch has come down and we are predicted to get between 2 and four inches of new snow. That will be a total of about 12-14 inches still on the ground.
I took a Percodan at 4, and all it did was ring my skull bell. My back is toast. I will say "screw it" to the snow shovel today. The mail lady will simply have to endure the new snow.
I must write some checks and take bills to the post office today. That is the only place I intend to travel. Screw that, too. I may walk. It's only about a half mile.
By Sunday we will get to 40 degrees, normal for Early March. Can't wait. But when all this snow is melted by the Sunday, Monday and Tuesday rain I am concerned about the floods returning. Meanwhile the cats are staring out the window wondering what happened to the houses on the other side of the street. It is coming down so thick you can barely see the traffic drive past.
Watch out New England! It's coming your way tonight and tomorrow.
